It is rare to find someone with a heart like my father-in-law's. He was easy to love with his warm smile, sense of humor, and incredible hugs. He placed great importance on his family and made God the center of his life. A simple man, he was a loving grandfather and father, and his love for my mother-in-law endured for over six decades, a love that transcends beyond this world.
I am grateful that he was the first to welcome me into the family when my husband brought me home all those years ago. I will always cherish the lessons he taught me, even when he didn't realize he was teaching them. The hugs, hand squeezes after prayers, and waving goodbye from the porch are memories I will hold dear. He showed me what it means to be a true Christian, even in difficult times. He didn't just talk about being an example to others, he lived it.
Thank you for loving our children and creating so many happy memories with them. Thank you for the laughs. Thank you for loving me like I was your own. Most of all, thank you and mom for raising the man of my dreams and teaching him how to love unconditionally, and be an amazing husband and father.
You once told me that we will reunite with our loved ones in heaven, so I hope you are enjoying your reunion with them now. We miss you and love you deeply, but we know you will be waiting for us at the gates of heaven when it is our time.
"When we all get to heaven,
what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory!"
