Barbara Anne (Roller) Hendrix age 78 years of Nashville, TN, left our world bound for heaven on April 6, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home after a fight well fought against cancer. Barbara was born in Nashville, TN on November 18, 1942 to Frank & Martha Roller. A true Tennessean, Barbara lived her whole life in Nashville, TN. Upon graduating from Litton High School, she worked at the Nashville Gas Company before she began her life’s favorite work as housewife and mom to her three children. Once her children were older, she worked as a Crossing Guard for the Metro Nashville Police Department where she retired. Her fun job later in life was being a cashier on the General Jackson Showboat for over 20 years. She married her husband Jimmy of 56 years in September 1964. They enjoyed their lives together taking trips to some of their favorite places including Gatlinburg TN, San Francisco, CA, Savanna, GA, Charleston, SC and Washington DC. Barbara was a dedicated wife, caregiver and mother. She loved her husband, children & grandchildren deeply, never missing a birthday or holiday to send a card with money. She was actively involved and a faithful member at Dalewood Baptist Church and most recently Inglewood Baptist Church serving many years as a Sunday School teacher and VBS teacher to many children. Barbara loved her Sunday School Class “The Winners Class”, and enjoyed class and Senior’s parties, lunch days. Known for her contagious laughter, her love for dressing up for the holidays & parties, for Halloween, St Patrick’s Day and Opryland Hotel/General Jackson parties, most notably as Minnie Pearl. She loved animals, the Tennessee Titans, working puzzles, a good meal out to eat (mostly at The Cracker Barrel), and all things patriotic. A servant’s heart Barbara loved to do little things for others. Thoughtful gifts, sharing food, and cards made those she loved and even barely knew feel special. She genuinely loved her neighbors and went out of her way to be acquainted with and make each of them feel special. She had a heart for the homeless, giving often to those in need. She enjoyed making boxes for Operation Christmas Child knowing they would bless children around the world.
