December 7, 1938 - March 28, 2021
Betty J. Aldridge, Nashville, TN - Betty, or BJ as many of her friends called her, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2021 in Melbourne, Florida with her daughters at her side. She had recently moved back to Florida but Nashville was her home. Betty was born to Joe Allen and Leona O’Neal Carver on December 7, 1938. She was the oldest of four sisters and one brother. She attended Highland Junior High and Hume Fogg High School where she met her future husband, Francis V. Aldridge. She travelled many places as an Air Force wife including Arizona, Colorado, Japan, California and then settling in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. After the loss of her husband in 1986 Betty moved back home to Nashville where she had many wonderful years with her partner Thomas R. Blackwell. Betty never met a stranger. She had a passion for fashion and style. It was rare to catch her without jewelry, a fabulous bag and awesome shoes. She loved to be on the move, whether that was bowling, boating, and entertaining in her earlier years or golfing, fishing and playing Bunko with her friends after retirement. She was always open for any adventure and had so many friends! Surviving her are her daughters; Jan Burrill and Margot Cronk (Kevin), partner Thomas R. Blackwell, grandchildren; Phillip D. Burrill, Casey A. Cronk (Kendelyn), Dylan J. Cronk (Mary), Katheryne Cronk, Emily R. Aldridge, Adam Blackwell and Brett Blackwell (Christina). She is also survived by her sister Nola A. Brown (Jerry) five great-grandchildren, and too many nieces, nephews and extended family to list but they were all loved dearly. We are most certain that she was met by and is rejoicing with those who have preceded her in passing including her husband Francis V. Aldridge, son, Andrew A. Aldridge, parents, Joe A & Leona Carver, and sisters Mary E. Aycock, Pamela J. Graves. Now that she is free of illness and injury there will be no limits to the laughter and joy. Please join us to share your memories and celebrate Betty’s life at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Friday, April 9, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and Services will be held at Noon. Burial will be private at Nashville National Cemetery.
