Billy Smith

Billy J. Smith, age 84, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed away February 11, 2022. Billy was born September 10, 1937, in Centerville, Tennessee to the late James and Carlye Smith. Billy graduated from East Nashville High School in 1955. After graduation, he spent his entire career in the music industry. In the early years, as one of the original members of The Casuals, one of Nashville's first rock and roll bands, and then as the President of One Niters Talent Agency. Billy was a true gentleman of faith, family, and friends, and will truly be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Carlye Smith; grandmother Nettie Shipp; brother Thomas Smith; sister Jo Ann Davis; and nephew Jimmy Smith. He is survived by his stepdaughter Holly Goodwin (Mike); granddaughter Molly Goodwin; nephews Raymond Davis (Pam) and Tommy Davis; nieces Judy Sanders (John); Mary Simmons (Bob); Sue Taylor (Robert); and a host of great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from ten o'clock until twelve o'clock. A funeral service will commence at twelve o'clock the same day with burial to follow at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Minister Don Loftis will be presiding over services. Pallbearers are: Michael Goodwin, Jesse Davis, John Robert Sanders, Bill Davis, and Rick Brooks and Benji Smith. Honorary pallbearers are: Jack Agee, Buzz Cason, Robert Labrec, Dickie Lee, Amos Meng, Billy Halbert and Ray Shelide.
