Mr. Gerald "Gere" Carter
October 9, 1946 - February 11, 2022
Gerald “Gere” G. Carter – born October 9, 1946, died February 11, 2022 Survived by wife Melissa “Lisa” Maines-Carter, son Benjamin D. Carter, sister Sherree C. DiMenno, many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Gere passed away peacefully at home after a long illness. Gere was a graduate of East High School, class of 1964. Some of his best memories were of his high school years in the band. Gere loved music and played drums in the school band. As an adult, Gere loved muscle cars, mechanical contracting and restoring his unusual home on Brush Hill Road in Nashville. He spent some years in Oklahoma with his best friend Joe Marina, working at his car dealership. Later in life, Gere discovered mechanical contracting and worked for several firms over the years. He went out on his own in 2001 and opened Carter Air Systems, Inc. and was a manufacturers rep for air purification systems. As a husband, father and provider, Gere was superlative. He will be dearly missed, and his memory treasured. Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery (Gallatin Road in Madison, TN) is handling the funeral arrangements. Visitation will be from 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with funeral service at 10:00. Entombment to follow at the mausoleum. Father Joe McMahon will officiate. If you would like to join us, please be casual – Gere hated suits and ties. Special thanks to Lauren Clanton, N.P. and Adoration Hospice Care.
