He was born on June 3, 1924 in DeKalb County, Tennessee to the late Neal Lee and Isa Barrett Joines. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eunice T. Hayes Joines; sisters Anna Mazell Burnett, Pauline Botts, Lucille Hudgens, Frances Hawthorne; brother William H. Joines and brother-in-law, James Smithson. He is survived by sons Jim Roy Joines (Judy) and Henry B. Joines (Pat); grandchildren Brian Joines and Amy Claibourne (Chris), Jamie Proffitt (Woody) and Angie Benton (JC); great-grandchildren Wyatt and Emma Claibourne, Nathan Campbell, Morgan, Charlee, and EC Benton; sister Jeanette Smithson and numerous extended family and friends. Jim proudly served his country in the US Army. He was the pastor at Porter Heights Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He drove a school bus for the Board of Education and was a funeral professional for many years. He has ministered to countless friends, church members, children, strangers and families in need throughout the years. He will be remembered for his kind spirit and loving heart. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Jeremy Sisk officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Family will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the residents and staff of Jubilee Hills Assisted Senior Living and Adoration Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
