Mr. John William "Bill" King III

King, John Wm "Bill", III (Coach King) - 89 yrs old of Greenbrier, TN, devoted husband, Father, Grandfather & Coach passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Bill was a retired Dispatcher for CSX Railroad. In his youth, he attended University of TN until he was called to serve in US Navy during Korea and was proud to have served as Quartermaster aboard USS Whidbey (AG-141). In his spare time, he was better known as Coach King and enjoyed coaching Dixie Youth Baseball for over 40 years, as well as, youth basketball with North Nashville Hoops & Upward in Goodlettsville TN. He was an avid sports fan, committed to fitness; he tried to jog every day for as long as he could and loved to play golf and bowl. He will forever be remembered as the kind and loving patriarch of the King family. He is survived by his 2nd wife of 16 yrs, Mrs. Betty Brightwell King of Greenbrier TN; his sons, Kenny (Cindy) King of Mt Juliet and Scott (Cindy) King of Greenbrier, TN; his sisters Mrs. Ruth (Oliver) Reynolds of Cottontown TN and Ms. Donna King of Nashville TN; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John W. King, Jr.; his uncle/aunt, Mr. & Mrs. G. Karsh King; his 1st wife, Nona Stagg King (married 48 yrs); and his sister, Joan King Short. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20 at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville from 4 pm until 8 pm. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21 at 2 pm. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
