I will forever cherish the friendship that I had with Mr. Leverett. He was always a gentleman when I would come to Nashville to broadcast the D.J. Convention with my Dad Boots Barnes. I am glad that I could call him a friend. God Bless the Leverett family.

Les will forever be "Mr. Leverett" to me. Some of my earliest memories are walking over to his house as a tiny kid and interrupting his dinner with Dot. I'd come knocking and he'd greet me with a big smile, hug and candy. His tire swing was always open to us playing... Just as his heart was. He had so many stories and his laugh was infectious! As an adult, he still had the candy ready and loved sharing that with my kids, too. Mr. Leverett will always be a gem to me.

Les and Dot were good friends with my grandparents, Bailey and Miriam Northcott. Cheers to a legend who lived a very long life!

My dad (Charles Johnson) and Les were good buddies from Dickerson Road Baptist Church. He thought a lot of Les and I know the feeling was mutual. Here is a picture of them at my dad's surprise 80th birthday party back in 2018. They are celebrating in heaven now. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Les was a great friend of my late husband Ronnie Drake. They sang together in a quartet at Union Hill Baptist Church for many years.

Les' kindness and generosity was only matched by his brilliant talent. The Greens send our love.

Les was one of those rare individuals who could brighten a room just by being there. He always had a funny story to tell and his pictures truly spoke a thousand words. He was witness to not only country music history but the history of Nashville and he had the photographs to prove it! I will miss hearing those stories over a cup of coffee. If there’s any way possible, Les, send me a picture of heaven!
