Mrs. Mildred Irene Sloan

Mildred Irene Sloan, 92, of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Born September 8, 1929 in Gainesboro, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Arlow Lee Wiley and Cora Adena Swearingin Wiley. Mildred was a graduate of Jackson County Senior High School Class of 1950 where she was an outstanding basketball player and ‘Miss Jackson County’. She was an avid follower of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols women’s basketball team, often watching the games and keeping her own statistics at home. When she was able to get out more, she attended First Baptist Church in Madison. Mildred loved her family dearly and devoted her life to her children… until her grandchildren arrived. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Rubert Lee Sloan, Sr.; siblings Harley, Belle, James, Johnny, Pearl, Earl, and Estelle. She is survived by her sons Lance Sloan (Angie), Lee Sloan (Jamie); two grandchildren, William Lee Sloan, Anna Katherine Willis (Ethan); great grandchildren Nora Lane Willis and Allie Kate Willis; a host of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 4 pm until 8 pm. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 12 pm noon with Norman “Buck” Dozier officiating. Family will receive friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you can donate in Mildred’s name to the Madison Church of Christ Meals on Wheels program via a Benevolence Donation.
