Thomas Dunham Brassell, Jr., of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away on February 25, 2022. He was born in Nashville to the late Thomas Dunham Brassell, Sr. and Effie Elizabeth Jolley Brassell on March 8, 1942. Tommy was a genuine family man, and his love is reflected within the many family members and dear friends he had. He was an avid sports fan, starting with East Nashville Senior High School. He was a pitcher on their 1961 championship team. He loved basketball, baseball, and football (go Titans!). He loved to sing and dance, often tapping his feet along to his favorite Johnny Cash songs. He could be found fishing or, when not on the water, at the poker table. He was employed by Neuhoff Meat Packing Company for a number of years. Tommy was a shining light in his loved one’s hearts, and his presence will be missed dearly. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas Sr. and Elizabeth; brother Donald Joseph Brassell (Virginia); sister Betty Joyce Gregory (Albert), son Eric Thomas Brassell, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Sue Kirklin Brassell; daughters Deenna Carol Holland and Tracie Lee Fuqua; stepdaughters Angela Rice (William) and Marcie Henley (Matthew); stepson Kenneth Bubba Hale (Janice); sisters Dorothy Jean Matthews, Sadie June Walden, Shirley Joan Reed, Peggy Joann Montgomery Tribble, Barbara Joy Brassell, Beverly Janet Lewis (George), and Brenda Juanita Smith; brothers Robert John Brassell (Jacqui) and Kenneth Joel Brassell (Susanne); first wife Patsy Lee White; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from four o’clock to seven o’clock in the evening at Spring Hill Funeral Home. There will be an hour of visitation on Friday, March 4, 2022 from nine o’clock to ten o’clock in the morning before a celebration of life service at ten o’clock. Pastor David Royalty will be presiding over the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216, “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
