Mrs. Virginia Bell McKenzie

Virginia Bell McKenzie, 94, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Born January 1, 1927, in Springfield, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Henry N. Estes and Birdie Lee Cook Estes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 plus years Maj. Curtis Lanier McKenzie; children James Hobdy, Joe Hobdy, and Patricia Diane Nicholas. Virginia was a military wife of the Southern Baptist faith. She’ll be remembered for her love of gardening and sewing; her wonderful abilities in the kitchen (especially chicken and dumplings); and for her charity work with local fire departments, veterans groups, Shriners and St. Jude; and her love for her family. She is survived by her grandchildren Monica Lynn Hosford, Shane (Rebecca) Nicholas, Sr., Jamie (Amy) Hobdy, Angel Beason and Tiffany Ann (Brandon) Birdwell; great grandchildren Megan, Michael, Kayla Diane, Shane Jr, Jewel, Kayla, Grace, Devin, Stephanie, Jodi, Hunter, and Corinne; and 7 great-great grandchildren; 2 great-great great grandchildren. Tiffany Birdwell will welcome friends and family Monday, November 22, 2021 from 3 PM until 4 PM at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service officiated by Dr. Kevin Shrum will follow at 4 PM. Shane Nicholas, Sr., will receive friends and family on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 12 PM noon until 2 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service officiated by Dr. Kevin Shrum will be held Tuesday at 2 PM. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
