So many late night of grant deadlines, always met in time, to many to count. Without Linda, the Kennedy Center would not have survived those years. I can remember her loading each page of an over 400 page center grant application just to type the page numbers again to get them right. She made sure all the people did their part to get the grants done and submitted. Linda always got the job done. She meant so much to so many, including the people with disabilities that we serve. We will all miss her and owe her much.

I moved to Peabody for a job as assistant professor of psychology in August 1977 and met Linda Dupre my first day at work since I shared a suite of offices with Linda, Penny Brooks and others. In those days, everything was typed on typewriters. I was a good typist, but Linda could make the keys of an IBM Selectric really sing. Carbon copies were a norm then, so fixing errors was tedious. Linda would sometimes improve the clarity of my writing. She rarely made mistakes, and could be testy when I changed my mind about how something should be worded since she needed to make the changes on the carbon copies. Linda’s good work made me want to work harder and better. For the past couple of decades I would meet up with Linda at the Kennedy Center’s annual party and sometimes when she was pitching-in to help with a guest speaker. Every time I looked forward to seeing her and was reminded how much I liked and respected her. I miss knowing she is with us. John Rieser

I worked in the Special Education Dept. at Peabody College of Vanderbilt and met Linda there. She was such a hard worker and could tell the funniest stories. Several of us used to gather for lunch in the break room and Linda always had a good story for us. When my husband was diagnosed and in treatment for cancer, Linda kept up with every detail of his treatment and his condition. She was always so sincerely interested in my family. I have not talked to her in while and did not know the cancer had come back. She was full of life and I know how deeply she loved her family. My prayers are with all of you.

I was fortunate enough to work with Linda for several years at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center. She built such a wonderful sense of camaraderie amongst her co-workers. She was such a joy - what a great storyteller!
What I remember most vividly are the stories she shared of her family. I remember thinking, "That's how you love". She loved her family so much and went to such great lengths for them. I talked to her after she retired and she told me how incredibly happy she was to be retired and to have that opportunity to spend all her newly-earned free time with her family. I'm so glad she got to spend her final years that way.
My deepest condolences to Linda's family. What a great loss.

Linda was such a source of encouragement to me when I arrived at the Vanderbilt. Her grant support and mentoring were the very heart of the Kennedy Center's important work for me. Her warmth and wisdom were added to the excellent practical support to make her office an engine for transforming lives.
