Patsy volunteered at City Rd Chapel United Methodist Church on Thursdays. She sat at the welcome desk and we became friends. I loved Thursday mornings with Patsy. I’m the office manager and I could hear her interact with people who came to the door. The glass doors were locked so she would get up and walk to the doors in her small but strong strut. This was before the back issues and cane. I will never forget the day a black gentleman came to the door wanting a bus pass and she told him I don’t know if we have any or not but if you will pull your pants up I will see what I can do. I came out of my office and they were hanging way past his hips. I got so tickled and we gave him a bus pass and Patsy and I laughter for the longest about her braveness. Very small in statue but very brave in her beliefs. Men don’t wear their pants down and she made that clear. I loved her so dearly and she brightened my Thursday mornings. She told me she missed her husband so much. I have comfort knowing she is with him once again. Rest in peace sweet Patsy. You brought joy to my life.

I've known Patsy all of my life because we were cousins. At one point, I lived with her mother Aunt Bea and Uncle Charlie .Patsy's yard and her parents' yards were connected so I spent about as much time with Patsy and her girls as I did with Aunt Bea. As I've gotten older, we didn't spend much time together, because of jobs and moves we didn't spend much time together. Subsequently we have all grown apart but I'll miss Patsy and remember her working in the drug stores where she and David did worked.
