Patricia Ann Elder's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia Ann “Patsy” Elder, a beloved pillar of our community, passed away on June 25th, 2024. Born on September 5th, 1937, in Nashville, Patsy’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion.
Patsy grew up in Madison and attended Isaac Litton High School, where her infectious spirit and boundless energy made her a cherished cheerleader. Her zest for life extended beyond the football field, as she embraced every opportunity to uplift those around her.
In 1956, Patsy married David Elder, and their union was a beacon of enduring love. Together, they co-owned pharmacies in Montague, Madison, and Goodlettsville, serving generations of families with compassion and expertise. Patsy’s warm smile and genuine concern for her customers left an indelible mark on our community.
Beyond her professional life, Patsy contributed to the fabric of her community through her work as a teller and bookkeeper in local banking institutions. Her meticulous attention to detail and integrity earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
But it was in her relationship with Jesus that Patsy truly found solace. A devoted churchgoer, she sang in the choir with a voice that resonated with faith and hope.
Family was at the heart of Patsy’s existence. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, weaving a tapestry of love and memories that will endure for generations.
Patsy’s legacy lives on through the lives she touched. As we mourn her passing, let us celebrate the remarkable woman who taught us that relationships matter above all else. Her grace, resilience, and unwavering love will forever echo in our hearts.
In addition to her parents William Hudson Young and Beatrice Joy Cox Hewitt, Patsy is preceded in death by her beloved husband David Elder, stepfather Charlie Hewitt, and brother Billy Young. She is survived by her daughters Paula Ann Elder Howell (Steve), Sharon Lynn Wiesman (Bill), and Mary Beatrice Harding; grandchildren David Howell (Heather), Meg Palmer (Stephen), Alison Bearden, Andrew Bearden, Jillian Harding, and Elise Hughes (Daniel); great-grandchildren Owen Howell, Andee Howell, and Parker Palmer; sister Joy Campbell (Ron), nieces and nephews Amy Campbell, Charlie Campbell, Billy Young, and Bobby Young; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
