Col. Ronald L. Billmyer, USAF, Ret. of Spring Hill, Tennessee passed away on October 4, 2016 in Nashville. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Warren Blaker and Nellie Blaker (nee McKee). He is survived by his loving wif Read Obituary
I met Colonel Billmyer when he was completing his certification to teach the Modelnetics course at the 315th Airlift Wing, Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. It was a 20 week class, and that first day I had no idea what a pleasure was in store. He was a great and fun instructor. His humor and abilities shone through each lesson, and left an enduring relationship with all the stusents. God bless his family, and may his. memory be forever pleasimg.
I was sorry to hear that Colonel Billmyer had passed away. He was a great boss. I was his secretary when he was with the 315th ABG Commander at Charleston AFB SC. My prayers are with his loved ones during their time of sorrow.
Ron and I served together as navigators in the 815th Tactical Airlift Squadron and also 815th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron at Keesler AFB from 1973 - 1991. He was always one of the "go to guys". He was highly qualified,dependable, and well liked. Ron was a good friend. Our prayers and best wishes go out to Margaret and family.

I flew with Capt Ron -at that time 1966 -1967-in the 777th Sqd at Pope AFB and truly enjoyed being around him as he was a great guy to talk to. I was a young Loadmaster and he a Nav. We even touched base later in the TCTAA and discussed how we got so old. He was always very friendly and that was important to a young airman.

Ron (Von Zipper) Billmyer was one the most beloved and revered members of the Air Force Reserve's famous "Storm Trackers" Weather Recon Squadron at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. As his friend and fellow navigator, I am saddened at his loss, both personally, and for the many crew members who had the privilege of flying with Ron during many hurricane seasons. I am also saddened for Margaret and the boys for their loss of his companionship and leadership. He was truly "one of a kind" and it was my great privilege to have been able to serve with him. May he rest in peace...for his memory will be with many of us forever.
