Colonel Ronald L. Billmyer's Obituary
Col. Ronald L. Billmyer, USAF, Ret. of Spring Hill, Tennessee passed away on October 4, 2016 in Nashville. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Warren Blaker and Nellie Blaker (nee McKee).
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Billmyer; sons, Ronald L. Billmyer, Jr., Rick (Angela) Billmyer; daughter, Joy M. Shackelford; brother, Richard (Shelby) Billmyer; grandchildren, Kris Shackelford, Micah Shackelford, Joshua Billmyer, Jack Billmyer, Janey Billmyer; and niece, Heather Billmyer.
Col. Billmyer spent much of his life in service to his country. He graduated from Austin Peay State University and later the University of Tennessee School of Law. He was an Air Force officer with a long career as a C-130 navigator including combat service in the Congo and Vietnam and a number of years as a Hurricane Hunter. He loved to travel and was fortunate to visit dozens of countries and see virtually every part of the world during over thirty years of military service. In his later years he worked as an attorney for the Social Security Administration. Ronald loved politics and law, loved to play golf (badly), and was a dedicated and loving husband and father.
A celebration of life service will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee. The service will take place on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee.
