November 17, 1960 - April 12, 2021
The world lost a beloved mother and leader, Debbie Sisco, recently of Lebanon, TN, and native, longtime resident of Nashville, on April 12, 2021 in Wilson County. She is preceded in death by her mother, Glenda Thomason; and daughter, Marie Sisco Varsos. She is survived by her father, Jimmy (Missy) Thomason; life partner, Jose Zuniga; son, Alex Youn; and sisters, Angy Thomason, Sharon (Sherman) Butler, and Karen Campbell. Also surviving her are her two best friends, Dorthy (Noah) Savant, and Pam (Kerry) Donnaud. Her warm loving smile, love of family and friends, and ability to always think of that one extra question to ask you never thought of, is a model we’d all hope to be remembered for. She was the foundation for so many who were close to her, and was the first person that came to mind to help untangle life’s challenges. She always knew how to listen and knew when to act for those who couldn’t for themselves. Her loss is deeply felt by her countless coworkers at South Central Bell, BellSouth, and AT&T over a career spanning 40+ years, and the hundreds of people whose working life was made better by her tireless, ferocious, dedicated work as a Union leader with the Communication Workers of America, through a variety of elected positions in Local 3808, culminating in her recent 3rd term as President. Other than Alex and Marie, this work was her greatest source of pride, satisfaction, and accomplishment. She inspired and taught many people interested in Union work, and led by her graceful example. She is irreplaceable and deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Nashville Humane Association, an organization dear to Debbie’s heart. And the next time you visit the beach, particularly the Gulf of Mexico, please think of her while you look at that beautiful, turquoise water. It was her favorite place on earth. For her, that was her happy place and paradise. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11am. There will be a 1 hour visitation prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitors will be required to have their temperature checked upon entry, wear a mask, and social distance accordingly.
