Joyce Robinson

January 31, 1944 - February 14, 2022

After a long battle with lung cancer and COPD, Joyce Robinson died peacefully and without pain surrounded by her family. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Tommie (Sr) and Lena Farris, her brothers Lonnie Farris and Tommie Farris Jr, and her beloved husband Billy Robinson. She is survived by her brother and sisters: Jimmy Lee Farris, Linda (Marion) Schow, Patricia “Trix” (Gary) Belcher, Debbie (Kenneth) Huggins, and Sandi (John) Welcher; her in-laws: Velma Farris, Nathan (Sandy) Robinson, Gary (Jee) Robinson, Anita Cavender, Nancy (Bill) Dickie, and Brenda Robinson. Joyce is also survived by dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, god-children, and extended family members. Joyce is a retired surgical nurse who dedicated many years to Centennial and St. Thomas Hospitals in Nashville. She is most known for her open heart and love for her family. Whether it was her ailing mother in law, a god son building a new home, or just a friend that needed a place to stay, Joyce always opened her home with welcome arms. For many years, Joyce and Billy hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas for their combined 30+ family members. At Thanksgiving, she’d make sure everyone had to go plates and enough to eat; at Christmas, she always made sure that everyone had a gift. Family was her everything. Although a stroke confined her to a wheelchair several years ago, it didn’t dampen her spirit. She kept a watchful eye on Billy while he worked in the garden, enjoyed watching all the birds that congregated on the back porch, and looked after Callie Mae and Little One. Whether you knew her as Mildred, Joyce, Joycie, Jarce, Sis, Sisser, or Aunt Joyce, you knew that she was always there when you needed her. Although she may be gone from us, she will live on in our hearts forever. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 21 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 22 at 2:00 pm with two hours of visiting time prior to the funeral also at the funeral home. The committal service will immediately follow. Gary Belcher Jr, Larry Green Jr, Bobby Henry, Charles Huggins, Kenny Huggins Jr, and Tommy James will serve as Pallbearers.
