SFC Acie LaWayne Gallon, Jr., 39, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 2, 2021. Born May 15, 1982 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he was the son of Acie LaWayne Gallon, Sr., and Patricia Ann Hopps.
To many, Acie could be very intimidating when initially meeting him. But it never took long for people to see a man with a wonderful smile and great sense of humor. He graduated from Lithonia High School in 2000. Acie served his country proudly in the United States Army with over 20 years of service. He enlisted on February 2, 2001 and during his military career he served 4 tours in Iraq and 1 tour in Afghanistan. He had been stationed at Fort Stewart, Fort Irwin, Fort Campbell, Fort Leonard Wood, Grafenwohr Army Base and was currently stationed at Fort Campbell for a second time.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather Kevin Stafford.
Acie is survived by his wife Esther Ruby Gallon; sons Acie Lewis and Markell Greene; mother Patricia Ann Hopps; father Acie LaWayne Gallon, Sr.; sister Sharon Hopps; brothers Maurice (Theresa) Stafford and Reuel Stafford; nephew Marquis Terry; and a host of extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
A visitation will take place on Monday, July 12 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service with full military honors will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 13, at 12 PM noon. The family will receive friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral service.
