Albert Thomas Doss' Obituary
On May 20, 2023, the Lord called to rest Albert Thomas Doss, after he fought a valiant fight with the rare disorder of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born July 3, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Alexander and Queenie (Smith) Doss.
He was educated in the Nashville public school system. In 1966, he was drafted into the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War as a radio operator. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He completed his service as an Army Reservist and was honorably discharged in 1972. Albert was the owner of Doss Home, and worked with his favorite cousin, Michael Lee “Catfish” Slater, who predeceased him. He enjoyed attending car auctions and purchased a number of old cars that he either restored or would “get to them later”. There wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t try to fix. If he didn’t know how, he would find a book or YouTube video about it. After retirement, his wife was able to convince him to do some traveling. They were able to visit numerous American cities together and make precious memories. Albert will be sorely missed by those who loved him.
Albert is preceded in death by his brother Preston Doss. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Dr. Linda Fenderson-Doss; his children: Samara Doss, Joshua (Tristen) Doss, Byron Doss, Albert (Arnah Ajak) Doss, Jr., Coyanna (Kenneth) Claybrooks-Mixon, Lillian (Shawn) Grant-Yokley, and stepson, Arthur Fenderson. His surviving siblings include Mary Adams, James (Mary) Doss, Ruby Phillips, Ronald (Elsie) Doss, Sr., and Angelia Doss. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, and nephews.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to share memories of Mr. Doss on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from ten o’clock in the morning until the time of the funeral service at twelve o’clock in the afternoon at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The Reverend Kenneth Phillips will preside over the service. The rite of committal will immediately follow with military honors at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
