Roy Michael (Mike) Norris
Alfred Avery Norris (a.k.a. A.A. Norris, a.k.a. "Snookie" Norris, was my uncle. He had two brothers, my father Glen Roy Norris, and Charles Edward Norris. He had a sister, Goldie Norris, who passed away as a small child somewhere around 1930. I always liked Uncle Snookie. He was free spirited and carried on with me and his other nephews and nieces. For many years the entire Norris family lived on a farm at the corner of Kings Lane and Drakes Branch Road in the outskirts of Nashville in a community call Bordeaux. Each family had their own lot and home on the farm. The maternal grandparents (my great grand parents) of the Norris brothers also lived on the farm. They were Louella and Alfred Whitfield originally from Jackson County. A maternal uncle, Neely Whitfield was the patriarch of the farm and made any decisions regarding it that needed to be made. A lady by the name of Avo Green also lived on the farm. Best of my memory, she was a family friend of the paternal grandparents. I have fond memories of Uncle Snookie and the time we all lived on that farm. I miss it tremendously to this day. RIP Uncle Snookie, along with everyone else I have mentioned in this memory.
