Mr. Alfred E. "Earl" Hatcher Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Alfred E. “Earl” Hatcher, Jr., age 84, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Earl was born to Alfred E. and Bessie Mae (Hardin) Hatcher on September 17, 1932 in Nashville.
Earl graduated from East High School in 1950. While in high school, he was enrolled in the ROTC program. Earl love being a part of the program and after graduation joined the Army. While in the Army, Earl served in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Earl worked for the Neuhoff Packing Company. He later worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring after many years of service.
Earl was a faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene for 56 years. The church family was important to Earl especially the Pate Sunday School Class.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille, son Jeffery, brother Joe, and sister Lois. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce, daughters Jan Lassiter and Jackie (Clyde) Cutrer. Grandchildren Jason (Lynn) Lassiter, Christie (Jared) Reynolds, Stephanie (Hayden) Cook, and Jessica (Adam) Williams. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren Jack, Kate, Reese, Will, Beau, John, and Olivia.
Earl never met a stranger and had many close friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9am-11am at First Church of the Nazarene. Services will begin at 11am with burial to follow at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery concluding with military honors.
