Alfred Emmanuel Wehby's Obituary
Alfred Emmanuel Wehby, age 82, passed away peacefully March 17. He was predeceased by his son, Alfred E. Wehby, Jr.; parents, Solomon and Nahlil Wehby; sister, Edna Sanders; and brother, Andrew Wehby. Alfred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alma Barnhill Wehby; daughters Celia Bard (Eric), Angela Horner, and Mary Weber (Mark); sons Timothy Wehby and Roger Wehby (Bonnie); sisters Evelyn Kempf and Imelda Todd; brothers Charles Wehby and Vincent Wehby; grandsons Nicholas Bard and Thomas Wehby; and granddaughters Linnea Weber, Julia Weber, Caroline Wehby, and Christine Wehby.
Mr. Wehby attended Holy Name school in east Nashville, graduated Salutatorian from Father Ryan High School, class of 1950, and Cum Laude from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., 1954. He earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Vanderbilt School of Law as part of the famed class of 1957. Mr. Wehby practiced law in Nashville for over 30 years including having served as an Assistant District Attorney in the late 1960s and was especially proud of having taught for a term at the YMCA Negro Night Law School. Alfred loved his Church, his family, Shelby Park golf, stud poker, and Vols football. He will be sadly missed by his family.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 19 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Madison. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 18 from 4-8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home with a Rosary recitation beginning at 7 PM and from 10 :00 AM at St. Joseph until service time on Thursday.
