Ms. Alice Joann Hooper's Obituary
Alice Joann Hooper, age 92, of Nashville, TN, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Calie Johnson Webb and Mr. Nereus Edwin Webb; husband of 69 years, William “Bill” Hooper. She is survived by two nieces, Elizabeth (Beth) Garvin(Robert), Janet Clough; one nephew, Andy Clough (Melissa). Alice worked as an operating room nurse at Nashville General Hospital for 40+ years caring for patients that placed their trust with her. She also served as a cadet nurse in WWII and always considered herself a veteran. It was only fitting that she passed on Veterans day. Aside from working at the hospital in her early days she enjoyed cooking, boating and waterskiing, spending time at the beach, and travelling, especially internationally. She travelled to many countries and kept extensive picture books of each. She was an avid collector of small handbells and had several bells from each country she visited. In her later life she enjoyed painting and coloring. Joann will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to her caregivers at Brookdale Cumberland Green Hills for their care and compassion to Joann. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 at 11 AM in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110, Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, a Nashville landmark since 1785 “Where Nashville Comes to Remember”
