Amanda Nicole Mackert's Obituary
East Nashville-Amanda Nicole Mackert, 32, joined her son Milo in the arms of Jesus on April 10, 2017. She is now free from the cancer that stole both of their lives. She departed this Earth surrounded by people who fiercely love her, singing praises to the One who declared victory over what the chemo could not.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 2:00 pm at Midtown Fellowship 12 South, 2415 12th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37204. Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm at the church, prior to the service. Please join our celebration of Amanda by wearing colors, not black. Childcare will be provided for children 5 and under.
She is loved and missed by her husband, John and their 2-year old son, Rowan; her mother, Donna and step-father, Joe McKnight of Hendersonville, TN; her sister, Jill McKnight Denney and brothers, Joseph and Jake McKnight; her cousin, Todd Carter; her aunt, Nikki Lewis; the entire McKnight, Mackert, Jaenke and Gadol clans and by the many people she touched.
Amanda was a commercial interior designer at STG Design in Nashville, earning LEED Accreditation and NCIDQ Certification. She graduated summa cum laude from Middle Tennessee State University in 2007 where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi, Phi Eta Sigma, IIDA, ASID and Emerging Green Builders, volunteered at Ronald McDonald House and played intramural sports. She was a member of Midtown Fellowship Church where she met her husband. They were married on April 23, 2011. She loved her friends, traveling, coffee, live music, her Boston Terriers, living in East Nashville with her church community and especially being a mother to her July-Fourth first-born redheaded little boy. Amanda brought beauty and color to her world and to those around her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor be made to her YouCaring site (search “Amanda Mackert” at YouCaring.com), to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or to support the Nation Marrow Donor Program.
