Anita Faye Short, 77, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021. Born November 23, 1943 in Old Hickory, she was the daughter of the late Joe Bruce Dillon and Ruby Dimples Betty Dillon.
Anita was known for her abilities in the kitchen. She jarred her own jellies and pickled okra, and when it came to baking everybody wanted her recipes. In her spare time she like to crochet, play bingo and visit the slot machines. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Anita did not attend a local church, but she was a devout Christian and a faithful viewer of Shepherd’s Chapel TV show. Her last words were “Lord, I am ready.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cottie Wendell Short in 2015; a great grandson Eli Jayce Cunningham; brothers Ronnie Bruce Dillon, Terry Lee Dillon, and Lanny Wayne Dillon.
She is survived by her sons Tony Daniel Short, and Terry Lee (Barbara) Short; daughter Tracy Dawn Short; grandchildren Nicholas Short, Daniel Short, Tasha Duke, Christina Duke, Timothy Short, and Christopher Cunningham; great grandchildren Hailey Short, Abby Short, Charlie Short, Elijah Duke, Emma Duke, K’Lynn Ground, Shianne Hailey, Nathan Hailey, Jaxson Duke, Enzo Cunningham, Elias Cunningham, Chloe Short, Maddox Short, and Rissa Short; great great grandchildren Emmy Davis and Lainey Blu Meade.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 10 AM until 12 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place at 12 PM Thursday officiated by Pastor Shaun Sutton. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
