Ann G. Shelton's Obituary
Nancy Ann Goodall Shelton (November 13, 1925 – January 12, 2024) passed away on January 12th, 2024, at the age of 98. Born in Mt Juliet, TN to Fred Thomas Goodall and Evelyn Everette Goodall; Ann graduated from Mt Juliet High School in 1943 where she was a cheerleader and salutatorian of her senior class. She was the last surviving member of the Mt. Juliet High School Class of 1943. Shortly after graduating high school, Ann moved to Nashville where she worked for the State of TN for 21 years. She also assisted in elderly care at Maybelle Carter Senior Living Center for many years.
Ann G. Shelton was the loving wife Raymond Hartwell Shelton for 53 years; Ray preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by sister Dorothy G. Exum, who she lovingly called “Dot”. Ann is survived by her four daughters: Suzanne Jernigan (Ron Jernigan), Dawn Taylor (Barry Bailey), Gaye Key, and Angela Shelton Smith (Steve Smith). She has a large lasting legacy in her six grandchildren: Eric, Crystal, Ricky, Ronnie, Travis, and Brittany, and thirteen great grandchildren. Ann was the definition of selfless. She was an incredibly compassionate and giving woman, whether it be wisdom, kind words, financial assistance, sweets when anyone came to visit, or tiding to her church. She was deeply cherished and will be profoundly missed.
The family invites relatives and friends to gather for visitation on Friday, January 26th, from ten o’clock in the morning until the time of the funeral service at twelve o’clock noon at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The committal service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s name to The American Heart Association.
Final arrangements for Ms. Shelton are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
