Mrs. Atha May McClung O'Guin's Obituary
Our Beloved Mama, Atha May McClung O’Guin, age 85 of Hendersonville, Tennessee, joined Jesus and her family in heaven at 10 pm Friday, March 18, 2016, while at Alive Hospice-Madison Campus.
She was born on February 8, 1931 in Dallas, Georgia, to the late Oliver Sesser and Eola Gann McClung, youngest of nine children. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joe Edward O’Guin. They lived in Pineview, Lobelville, Bolivar, and Hendersonville, Tennessee.
She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Vassie Bradley and Georgie Massey along with five of her six brothers, Nall, Ray, Joe York, Sam and Nolen McClung, and one grandson Michael Clement.
She is survived by her daughters Linda O. (Robert) Clement of Winter Spring, FL, and Janet O. (Ted) Cumuze of Hendersonville, TN; her brother Ores McClung of Bay Minnette, AL; grandchildren, Robert Jason Clement and Christina Anne Clement of Winter Springs, FL; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was a Christian receiving God’s grace in salvation at the age of 11, and a member of the Baptist denomination. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, always putting God first and her family next. She felt all her relatives were special.
She graduated from Dupont High School in Old Hickory and worked at May Hosiery and Dupont prior to marriage. She was a homemaker with many skills including cooking, sewing and gardening.
Her family will receive friends from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22; and from 12 noon until her Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Her family would gratefully like to thank the staffs of The Hearth at Hendersonville and Alive Hospice-Madison Campus for their loving and compassionate care of our Mother, Mother-in-law, and Grandmother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice- Madison Campus; 510 Hospital Dr, Madison, TN 37115. Interment will be in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Rd. Nashville, TN 37216.
