Mr. Aubrey Clay's Obituary
Freddie Clay was born November 22, 1935 in Nashville, TN. and died May 2, 2016 in his beloved city. Freddie was a true southern gentleman who made friends and created family wherever he went. He was the son of the late Marie (Caruthers) and Fred Clay and leaves behind three sisters Margaret Taylor, Gloria Link (James) and Delphia Knobel. He also leaves behind his daughter Karen (Brian) and two granddaughters, Dylan and Shayla. He was predeceased in death by his second wife and the love of his life, Lorene Mann, his daughter Marissa Helmintoller and his big brother James.
Freddie graduated from Litton High School where he was proudly their first male cheerleader. Shortly after, he joined the Air Force and was stationed for some time in Morocco. After his discharge he was employed at the Post Office as a mail carrier for over 30 years. It was a job he absolutely loved and often commented, “if you love your job you never work a day in your life.”
He holds a Guinness World record and beat Minnesota Fats in a game of pool. He loved animals, especially dogs, and if you were one of Freddie’s pets you were lucky indeed.
Freddie loved life and enjoyed every minute. His beautiful smile, his big hugs, his constant reminders that he loved you and was proud of you and his ability to tell stories about everything and anything will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate Freddie’s life will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Thursday May 5th at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4th from 3:00-8:00pm.
