Barbara "Doris" Street's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Barbara “Doris” Street
May 22nd, 1940 – August 30th, 2025
We celebrate the beautiful life of Barbara Doris Street, known to everyone simply as Doris, who began her journey in Whites Creek, Tennessee. She spent 85 vibrant years spreading kindness, honesty, and steady love.
Doris will always be remembered for being sweet, gentle, and non-judgmental while also standing firm when something mattered. Her no-nonsense style meant you always knew where you stood, and that clarity made people feel safe and respected.
Music filled her days, and her rich voice lit up countless weddings. Brides still talk about how her songs turned a special day into an unforgettable one.
Doris’s green thumb was legendary; every porch plant and backyard bloom thrived under her care. She loved and nurtured countless animals along the way.
Baseball and basketball games became family festivals because Doris cheered as hard as any coach, a habit sparked by the enthusiasm of her grandsons. She never missed a big play and could quote stats with the best of them.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Street of 27 years, parents Marion H. Williams and Eunice D. Williams; her brothers, Charlie, Gene, Robert, Richard and Houston Williams; sisters, Margaret Mooneyhan and Jacqueline Lane, and grandson Jonathan Taylor. Doris’s light continues through her daughters Felicia (David) Serio, Debbie Taylor (Joe Russell), Mary Taylor, Amanda (Howard) Cole, and Shannon (Jeff) Lancaster; grandchildren Noelle Taylor, Terry Cole, Candice Cole, Brittany Noll, Andrew Willis, Justin Lancaster, Skyla Serio, Tanner Lancaster, Marley McClary, Michael McClary, and Joshua Cole; 15 great grandchildren; YFN Marion (Julia) Williams, along with many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
Family and friends will cherish memories of her steady smile, warm hugs, and simple wisdom. Doris showed that a life anchored in love and honesty leaves the strongest mark.
As we share stories and laughter in her honor, we carry forward her gift of treating everyone with gentle respect. May each song sung, flower planted, or game cheered remind us of Doris’s bright spirit and the joy she freely gave.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Street family for accepting and taking care of our mother, Doris.
