Bennie Elizabeth Maddux's Obituary
Bennie Elizabeth Maddux, 98, of Rochester, previously of Nashville, Tenn. Died Oct. 5, 2010, at Sunrise Cottages of Rochester, where she had resided for the past 4 years. Bennie was born on Nov. 26, 1911, in Smyrna, Tn., to Beulah and Samuel Weakley. She was married to Walter Maddux Sr. on Oct. 4, 1940. They lived most of their lives in the Nashville area and rasied 2 boys and 2 girls. Bennie worked in Nashville at General Store, Methodist Publishing House and Kieth-Simmons. She enjoyed traveling and reading, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by her loving children, George (Linda) Maddux of Hermitage, Tn. Sara (John) Brintnall of Brentwood, Tn., and Nancy (John) Hoffman of Rochester; six grandchildren, Kim (Chris Walter) of Columbia, S.C. Christie (Ross) Wolf of orlando, Fl., Scott Maddux of Nashville, Tracy (Ross) Roberts of Mt. Juliet, Tn.,Katie Hoffman of Nashville,amd Mathew Hoffman of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Barbara Carman and 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,Walter; one son, Walter Jr.; 5 sisters and 1 brother. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the caregivers and staff of Sunrise Cottages of Rochester and Seasons Hospice. These incredible caring people were more than employees just doing their job, they became family to us whenever we needed it. You were there for Bennie and us even in the end. A memorial service will be held at Sprimg Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Madison,Tn. On Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. The family prefers memorials to Sunrise Cottages or Seasons Hospice.
