Bernard Uga's Obituary
Bernard Uga, 70, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Alive Hospice on May 31, 2024. He was born to Benedict and Isabel Uga in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on June 30, 1953. He was fond of sharing that this illustrious date was the same birthday of the Chevy Corvette.
To say that Buddy’s passion was fishing would be a vast understatement. His great loves were his Lord and Savior, ice cream, cheesecake, and ice skating. He loved good cooking but rarely did anyone meet the high standards of Leigh’s cooking, her special love language just for him.
He was a hard worker all his life and started out constructing pools. He honed his skills as a carpenter and contractor and eventually became an entrepreneur that co-owned commercial and residential contracting companies, Beaver Pools (The Best Dam Pools Ever Built!) and final business New Life Construction.
Bernard will forever be remembered for his huge heart and generous spirit. His friends in Massachusetts and Tennessee remember him for his biggest heart and assistance of so many in need. His charity work began early with the “Row Row to Revere for Spina Bifida” charity rowing event 1980 and extended throughout the rest of his lifetime. He cared more about others having what they needed above his own needs.
His family will remember him as a strong provider, cherished mentor, loving father and husband, and a wicked sense of humah. “I’m so sweet they put my name in the middle of sUGAr.”
John 13:34&35 -- 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
His special request, “No flowers!” The family asks for memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
There will be two memorial services in honor of Buddy. On June 15th, 2024, at 7:00 am at Rockland Recreational Area in Hendersonville TN 37075, for fishing and donuts. The second will be held June 23, 2024, at 12 noon after church services at Jesus is the Answer, located in Watertown TN, 37184.
