Ms Bettie Ann Jones Cobb's Obituary
Bettie Ann Jones Cobb, age 58, grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, raised her family in Collierville, Tennessee, and most recently of Simi Valley, California, died November 21, 2015. Bettie was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal adenocarcinoma cancer during 2014. She fought a valiant battle against this aggressive, painful disease until her last breath. Where does one begin to articulate an entire person into words? Bettie was strong and courageous, beautiful inside and out. She made everyone feel loved, and more importantly worthy of that love, with her welcoming hospitality and without judgment. With all of her heart and in a spirit of selflessness, she fulfilled myriad roles to a number of people as a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, lover, friend, and so many more. She was kind and loving to all who met her; she spread joy in this world. Now God has called her home to Heaven. She no longer has to suffer and can continue to spread her forever love among each and every one of us from above.
Bettie adored her children and enjoyed spending time with them. As well as being a baseball and cheerleading mom, Bettie played an important role in the lives of her nieces and nephews and was considered a second mom by many.
Bettie graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1975. She attended UT Knoxville and LSU Lafayette but left college to raise her family. While her children were in school, she returned to college and received her BS degree from the University of Memphis.
Bettie moved to Simi Valley, California, in 2012 where she enjoyed the beach and frequent trips exploring the different sites in California including the Missions and flower farms with her boyfriend and her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bobbie Lewis Jones.
She is survived by her father, William Allen Jones; by her siblings: Richard (Carol) Jones, Barry (Angela) Jones and Bonnie (Tom) Humphrey; by her children: Jim (Katie) Cobb, Richard (Becca) Cobb, Charles Cobb, and Catherine Cobb; by her grandchildren, Ainsely and Aiden Cobb; her boyfriend, Tim Gourley; and by a host of other family members and friends.
