Betty Jo Dortch's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Betty Jo Dortch. She was born on August 13, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Wiley Graham Mercer and Lillie Eudora Hill Mercer.
Betty had a servant’s heart, faithfully serving as a Pentecostal minister and a Sunday school teacher. She caught the travel bug and spent time in Florida, the Dominican Republic, and Belize. Her family was most important to her, and she extended her love by cooking and baking anything from delicious pies, tasty roasts, and her famous banana pudding. She was an exceptional homemaker, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a tender, sweet, loving soul whose presence will be deeply missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Wiley and Lillie; first husband Orville Donald Thomas; second husband Johnny Dortch; brother Wiley Emery Mercer; and grandson Daniel Thomas Olive. She is survived by daughters Teresa “Tess” Thomas and Ginger Gebhardt (Chuck); sons Dennis Richardson and Gene Richardson; grandchildren Cory Walters (Stephanie) and Adryan Hawk; and a host of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
