Mrs. Betty R. Dunbar's Obituary
Betty Ruth Dunbar was born on April 20, 1928 in Nashville, TN. She was part of the first graduating class to finish all the way through at North Nashville High in 1946. After graduation, she worked part time at a clothing store downtown. From there she went to work for Folk Jordan Realty Company as a Secretary. Then, to work for Harvey’s as a Secretary. Her last job was for Commerce Union Bank as a File Clerk where she worked until she retired. She met the love of her life, Robert Dunbar, on a blind date on St. Patrick’s day in 1958. They dated every single night for 6 months, then married at home and honeymooned in Asheville NC. They were happily married for 54 years. They adopted their daughter, Dianne, and had 2 granddaughters – Christina and Kathy, and one great grandson, Galen. She was a proud member of Jackson Park Church of Christ since 1961 and loved her church family. She was very close to her family and loved being around people. She loved to joke around and have a good time. Her last several years were spent at Grace Manor Assisted living where she and her roommate Dimple enjoyed many evenings having their late night snack of Ensure and cookies. Betty enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her friends and family. Everyone that met Betty loved her and her sweet smile. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 12pm-5pm and Monday, March 11, 2019 from 10am-11am. Services will begin at 11:30 am in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
