Mrs. Betty Jean Mattzela's Obituary
Betty Jean Porch Mattzela, 87, was born to Robert and Ella Porch on May 15, 1930 in Nashville, Tennessee. She passed away in her adopted town of Las Vegas, New Mexico on August 13, 2017.
Betty graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1949. She met and married Robert “Fritz” Mattzela in Nashville in 1964. They traveled the United States before settling in Arkansas after Fritz’s retirement from the military.
An adept seamstress, she loved sewing, crocheting and other handicrafts. Her pride and joy was her family. Always the loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at the time of her death, she was eagerly awaiting the birth of her fourth great-grandchild. Quick to laugh, loving and kind, she will be dearly missed by her family with whom she lived until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Ella; siblings Mary, Jo, Ruby, Neil, Robert, Charlene, and Joyce; and husband Robert Mattzela. Survived by sister, Amy Hewgley of Old Hickory; daughter Pamela and husband Stephen Taylor; granddaughters, Tiffany Mattzela and Kalyn Taylor; grandsons, Joel, Jake and Jackson Taylor; and three great grandchildren.
Memorial Service to be held on 8/22/17, 10am, Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike S, Nashville, TN 37216.
