Betty Jean Stromatt's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Betty Jean Stromatt on November 29th, 2022 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. She was born to George Olinger and Jewell Deason Olinger on November 15th, 1932 in Nashville.
Jean was proud of her roots in the Nashville country music scene, and was the niece of the late Kitty Wells and Johnny Wright. She served as their personal secretary for over 40 years, and was also a longstanding member of the Madison Chamber of Commerce. She also served on numerous organizations such as R.O.P.E., Country Radio Seminar, and the CMA Fest (previously known as Fanfare). She was inducted into the Source Hall of Fame (Women Behind the Music). To her family, friends, and colleagues, she was a “Jean of All Trades.” She certainly knew how to have a fabulous time and would have a laugh at every opportunity possible. She was a graduate of East High School, Class of 1950, and was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene. Jean was a fun-loving and beautiful spirit, and her presence will be missed in the lives of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth Stromatt, son Terry Dean, and granddaughter Ashley Stromatt. She is survived by her children Marcia Starks, Jamie (Joyce) Stromatt, Tim (Sandy) Stromatt, and Jeffrey Stromatt; grandchildren Chris (Rebecca) Starks, Kenny (Misty) Starks, Brandon (Ashley) Goodwin, Alan Michael Stromatt, Brittany (Paul) Millsaps, Brooke (Jonathan) Eakes, Holly Goodwin, Kenzie Stromatt, Michael Wayne Stromatt, Krystal Stromatt, Jeremy (Samantha) Stromatt, Chelsea Stromatt, and Tyler (Piper) Stromatt; sisters Shirley Gregory and Becky Olinger; brother Jim (Martha) Olinger; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and close friends.
The family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, December 2nd, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home with burial to follow at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
