Betty Ann Winters' Obituary
Ms. Betty Ann Winters, affectionately known as “Everybody’s Granny,” passed away on June 10th, 2024. Born in Nashville on September 27th, 1941, she leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
Betty Ann had a heart as big as the Tennessee sky. Her love extended to everyone she met, whether they were family, friends, or strangers. She had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly cats. Her vibrant personality lit up every room she entered. With a contagious laugh and a twinkle in her eye, Betty Ann made friends wherever she went. She believed in the power of connection and never missed an opportunity to brighten someone’s day. And oh, her sweet tooth! Chocolate and ice cream were her guilty pleasures, along with her beloved oyster crackers!
Betty Ann was a long-time member of Antioch Church of Christ. She had a servant's heart and loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. The words and melodies of hymns made her happy and seemed to soothe her, even during her transition from this world.
Betty Ann was no homebody. She loved being on the move, exploring the world around her. Walking was her preferred mode of transportation; her energy was boundless, and her spirit infectious.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us remember her as a beacon of love, joy, and compassion. Betty Ann Winters touched countless lives, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness. She’ll forever remain in our hearts, a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived.
In addition to her parents John Adam Cantrell and Georgia Lee Bass, Betty Ann is preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Lynn Olivares; great- granddaughter Shala Caceres; brothers Howard Cantrell and Dale Cantrell; and sisters Martha Jane Cantrell and Linda Fay Cantrell. She is survived by her daughter Virginia Ann Tenpenny; grandchildren Angela (Jose) Wright-Cira, Penny (John) Turner, and James Tenpenny; niece Shearon Cantrell Ingram; great-grandchildren Joshua, Yasmin, Kimberlii, Kateryn, Juliana, Arieli, Adriana, Jada, Jamie, Jayla, Caleb, Autumn, Addison, Abbigail, and Shaylan; one great-great-granddaughter on the way, Xiomara Maria; nephews Gary (Patricia) Cantrell, Jeff (Michelle) Cantrell, and Michael (Gretchen) Cantrell; great-nieces, great- nephews, and great, great-nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
The family invites friends and relatives for a time of visitation on Monday, June 17th, 2024, from 12:00 in the afternoon until the time of the service at 2:00 in the afternoon at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Betty Ann will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, following the funeral service at Spring Hill Funeral Home; all who wish to attend will be guided in procession to the cemetery. Pastor William Beard will preside over services.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
