Mrs. Bettye Joan Fleming's Obituary
Bettye Joan Fleming, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2013. Mrs. Fleming was born on April 10, 1926, in Normandy, TN to the late Fred Troupe and Ruth McMillan. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, John B. Fleming, her husband of 50 years. Mrs. Fleming is survived by her daughter, Cathy Hopper (Bart); and son, David Fleming (Barbara); grandchildren, Wade Hopper, Shannon Hopper, and Laura Wheeler (Jeremy); siblings, Mary Ruth Howell (Jimmy), Fred Troupe, Jr. (Ann), Sue Warren (Jim), Nancy Thompson (Ronald); and brother-in-law Ralph Fleming (Jackie), as well as many nieces and nephews and her friends at Park Place.
Mrs. Fleming was a graduate of Isaac Litton, longtime resident of Inglewood, Madison, and Park Place in Hendersonville, and a member of Inglewood United Methodist Church and Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and seamstress who enjoyed travel, reading, watching the Braves and the UT Vols, and was always ready to hear a “tall tale.” She most loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Park Place, especially Idella, Susan, Diana, Katelyn, Uronda, and Katelyn in Assisted Living. Also, thanks to Caris and Dr. Tom Miller for their kindness and assistance.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Fleming will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 11:00AM, from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Goodman officiating. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 10th, from 2PM to 4PM, and from 6PM to 8PM, as well as one hour before time of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hendersonville First United Methodist Church Mission Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home, Nashville. (615) 865-1101.
