Bettye Sue Saunders' Obituary
Saunders, Bettye Sue (Smith) Age 93
Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Bettye went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 7, 2024. She was born on July 25, 1931, in Cookeville. She was a lifelong member of Madison Church of Christ and a volunteer in the clothing room for many years. She worked as a secretary for the Metro Public School System for almost 30 years. She was a member of the Delmas Long Community Center and enjoyed the friendships she made there. She also participated in the Open Senior Painting Group where she found her love of painting and had a piece of art displayed at Frist Art Museum. One of her greatest passions in life was caring for animals of all types and rescuing many over the years.
Mrs. Saunders is preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Saunders; her sister, Vicki Smith Migliore; and her parents, Charlie and Mildred Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Ziegler (Frank); a sister, Pat Northrup; a granddaughter, Meredith Stevenson (Blake); a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Saunders and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Will Sloan, Jeff Sweet, Paul Rainey, Chase Migliore, Spencer Migliore, Blake Stevenson and Lee Sloan.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 in the morning until 12:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony with burial will commence after calling hours. 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216.
