This is in response to the passing of Jean Thompson. She was my social club sponsor at the college I went to. I have loved her for years. She always had our club out to her lovely antebellum him for a spend the night party on the night of our pledges becoming new members. Then again at Christmas she would invite us and our dates out to a special dinner at her house. How special we were to have her in our lives.
Years later when I joined Garden Club I realized her deep involvement in our organization. She is one of the first people who encouraged me to do one of the garden club schools. She would be so tickled to know that I have almost completed all of them now. I told her at a meeting one time that she looked the same as se had when I was in college where she had taught English. She told me very plainly “When you start out ugly and get old you never look any different”. What a sense of humor and honesty. She was never ugly to me and I told her so.
We have been blessed to have had her in our midst for so many years. I will miss her in my life.
