Bill Hodde's Obituary
HODDE, Bill, Age 68. Departed this life for Life Eternal Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Alive Hospice after a valiant battle with cancer. Born December 15, 1943, in Fort Worth, TX to Dr. Henry Witte Hodde and Guyette Martin Hodde, he lived an adventurous childhood in Hobbs, NM. He attended the University of Oklahoma (BBA & MBA) and the University of Colorado (J.D.) and was licensed to practice law in Colorado and Tennessee. He practiced law in Hendersonville and Nashville for the last 42 years and founded Hodde & Associates where he most recently practiced law with his daughter. He dedicated himself to a lifetime of community service with the Downtown Sertoma Club, Hendersonville Soccer League, Hospital Hospitality House, Hendersonville Pastors Association and as the founder of the Homebound Meals Program in Hendersonville. He was a soldier of the Lord spreading God’s word through the scripture and teaching Sunday School class at Hendersonville First Presbyterian Church and the Red Letter Class at Calvary UMC. It was his joy to serve as President of the Gideons West Camp and as a speaker at the Nashville Rescue Mission. He was a member of Hillwood Country Club, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and a former member and board member of Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club. He will always be remembered for his unmatched sense of humor, charitable spirit and enthusiasm for living life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl (Sherri) Shaw Hodde; daughters, Kim Hodde, Ashley Cantrell (Tim), and Kerri Allison Hodde all of Nashville, Heather Hodde Nigbor (Doug) of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Sawyer, Sydney, and Grace Cantrell of Nashville, and Ben, Darby Shaw and Kirk Nigbor of Gastonia; brother, Henry Martin Hodde (Anne) of Santa Fe, NM; brother-in-law, Steve Shaw of Santa Monica, CA; and beloved and faithful service dog, Baylor. Private family burial. Visitation with the family on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Spring Hill Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Memorial Service on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3701 Hillsboro Pike, with visitation 1 hour prior and 1 hour following at the church. The Rev. Libby Baxter and the Rev. Matt Steinhauer will officiate.
