Billy Ray Gibbs, 78, passed away July 26, 2024. He was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee on June 27, 1946, to Claude and Emojean Gibbs.
Billy is predeceased by his parents, Claude and Emojean Gibbs, son, Billy Ray Gibbs, Jr., brother, Richard Hale Gibbs, grandparents, Willie C. and Mary Elizabeth Gibbs, Asbery and Beatrice Ray, and grandchild, Sarin Gibbs.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are wife of 41 years, Nilah Gibbs, children, Curtis Dean Gibbs, Beatrice Carole Jeaneen (Jeremy) Nichols, Richard Claude Drew (Michelle) Gibbs, stepchildren, Mark (Lisa) Patterson, Rhonda Corban, brother Danny (Cindy) Gibbs, grandchildren, Randy Slade Jackson, Sailey Lynn Nichols, Syndle Elizabeth Nichols, Mason Gabriel Gibbs, Carson Drew Gibbs, step grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Arnold and John (Chrisi) Corban, and former spouse and mother of his children, Linda Hays-Gibbs.
Billy proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict before starting his career with TVA at the fossil fuel plant at Kingston, Tennessee where he worked as a power plant operator. He was later recruited by Gibbs and Hill out of New York to work in Saudi Arabia to assist with power plant efficiency. He worked overseas for many years before relocating back to Nashville, Tennessee to work for Ford Auto Glass until his retirement.
He was a recovered alcoholic and a proud member of AA for 10 years. Through recovery, Billy surrendered his addictions and life to the Lord. He attended Madison Church of Christ with his supportive, loving wife, Nilah.
Billy was a big-hearted jokester that enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved long coats and even longer hugs.
He loved playing golf, bowling, drinking coffee, and telling stories. He loved animals and helped Nilah with dog and cat rescue and feeding birds and wildlife in his yard. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a proud Harley owner.
