Bishop Billy D. Shoulders' Obituary
Bishop Billy D. Shoulders, 86, of Nashville, Tennessee, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 3, 2020. Born March 22, 1934 in Nashville, he was the son of the late Fred Shoulders and Frances Josephine Gulley Shoulders.
In 1958, Billy became Pastor of the Jesus Only Tabernacle. The church relocated to West Trinity Lane in 1961 and changed its name to the First Pentecostal Church of Bordeaux. Under his leadership, the church grew to the point where a new location was needed. In 1969 the church bought property on the corner of Broadmoor and Maplewood Lane in East Nashville and built a new church named the First Apostolic Church. In 2003 Billy became Bishop at the First Apostolic Church and his son, Dee Jay, transitioned to Pastor.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Josephine Shoulders.
He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Mary Ann Shoulders; children Jeff Shoulders, Jody (Carlene) Shoulders, Brigitte (Mike) Thornton, Sabrina (Mehran) Sepehr, and Dee Jay (Karla) Shoulders; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Sunday, September 6, from 3 PM until 7 PM at the First Apostolic Church 265 Broadmoor Drive, Nashville, TN 37207. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 7 PM Sunday at the church. Interment will be 11 AM Monday, September 7, at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville. Pallbearers will be Logan Shoulders, Lucas Shoulders, Bijan Sepehr, Preston Shoulders, Peyton Shoulders, and Kian Sepehr. Honorary pallbearers will be Tad Shingledecker and Joe Davis.
