Mrs. Birdie L. Dickson's Obituary
Birdie Louise Sherrill Dickson, age 98, of Donelson, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020. She was born in Sumner County on May 16, 1922 to parents James Sidney Sherrill and Birdie Cook Sherrill. Preceded in death were a brother, James Sidney Sherrill Jr.; sisters, Annie Laurie Harris and Harriet L. Tant. Preceded in death by her husband, A. Clark Dickson Jr., of forty-four years. She is survived by two devoted sons, Daniel Clark Dickson and Al Clark Dickson; four grandchildren, Danielle Dickson Rothman, Courtney Dickson Rommel, Adam Dickson and Megan Dickson Eskind and six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She graduated from Donelson High School and attended Murfreesboro State Teachers College then graduated from Peabody College where she taught school in Metro Davidson County School until her retirement. She was a sixth generation patriot and member of the DAR and UDC being a “real” granddaughter. After retirement she enjoyed quilting at the senior citizen center in Donelson and Buchanan Log House with friends. She wants to thank her many nieces and nephews and friends who helped make her later years a joy.
Visitation for Birdie will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 10 AM until Noon, at which time a Graveside Service will be conducted from the grounds of Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Friends and visitors are requested to meet at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Arrangements by Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, a Nashville landmark since 1785 “Where Nashville Comes to Remember”.
