Mr. Bobby Baxter Lee's Obituary
Bobby B. Lee, 85, of Hendersonville passed from this life into eternal life on Wednesday, January 25,
2023 with his caring family by his side.
Bobby will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Judy Lee; his devoted sister, Sharon
Horwath; his niece, Shirley Foster; and his children: Janna Long (David), Teena Bump, Tim Covington
(Julie), Steve Covington (Amy), Kevin Covington (Pattie), Debbie Elliott (John), and Danny Bright (Mandy).
He will be fondly remembered as “Poppie” by his 13 grandchildren, as well as two great-grandchildren,
and one great, great-grandchild.
Born June 9, 1937 in Nashville, TN to James Frederick and Margaret Eudora (Moore) Lee, Bobby touched
many lives with his adventurous spirit and lively sense of humor. He enjoyed racing stock cars with close
friends as a young man, winning several races in and around Nashville. Bobby was also a patriot,
dedicated to the well-being of his community and country. He proudly served in the Korean War from
1954-1957 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Bobby retired from McCain Steal in 2000 and settled with his wife and family in Hendersonville, where
they enjoyed exploring the beauty of Tennessee’s outdoors while travelling and camping with friends.
He loved golf and was an avid UT Vols fan. Bobby was also a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He
was a supportive and affectionate father, grandfather, and friend, attending countless birthdays,
competitions, and performances over many years.
He is predeceased by his parents as well as his daughter, Renee Mertz.
Bobby Lee will be remembered by those close to him as an immeasurable force in this world. His
kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and loving spirit will live on in all of us, kept alive in the stories we
tell and the memories we share.
A Visitation for Mr. Lee will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday February 1, 2023 from 4pm-8pm. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held the following day, Thursday February 2 at 10am in the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, with the family receiving visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Brother David Coulter and Brother Aaron Snodderly will officiate.
