I met Buck at the 2016 Rope show in Nashville, I was performing with Leona Williams in a Tribute to Merle. Everyone wanted to be close to Buck, myself included, He was just that popular. The news of his death really saddens me, He was so robust and full of energy, you would have never known he was in his 80's. Even though I was an unknown to him, Buck was so gracious. I will forever cherish that memory. What a great representative of Country Music; and an even better Man. Buck White was a devout Christian , so we don't worry about him today. So glad I was able to spend a half hour with you Buck White. Tony Martin.

My band played the the first Woodenville, Wa. Bluegrass festival, before the winery was involved. It was the kind of festival where the traveling bands get paid, but the local bands don't. It was also the kind of festival where the promoters, Ivan and Sue Blood, lost their shirts and their marriage. To make a much longer story short, I was sitting at my camp, nursing a beer and procrastinating breaking camp, as one does at a festival on Sunday late afternoon, when Buck walked up. He asked if he could sit down, and I offered him a drink, and luckily, there was one Coke left in the cooler. He was very complimentary of our band, and was inclined to talk. I told him I was in love with his bass player, and he took it in the spirit intended. I should add here that we were a bunch of long haired, bearded hippy freaks. Also, I should add we always had two sacred numbers in our shows, and showed up Sunday morning at the Gospel hour. Buck was so kind and friendly, and stayed a half hour. When he got up to leave he took out his wallet and gave me his card. He said if I was ever in Nashville to look him up. What a wonderful Gentleman. I was sad to hear he had passed.
Sincerely; Gordon Brackett.

Amazing human being, father, husband, and musician. First saw him with Sharon & Cheryl in July 1978 in Hillsdale, NY. So blessed to see them again a few months later in Warwick, RI with Jerry Douglas and Rosie. Music is laughter to the soul!!

Sorry to read about this. Was just watching an old Country reunion show a couple weeks ago with Buck & the Whites. Many summer nights I watched with my grandparents Nashville Now and The Opry. Nothing quite like those harmonies, especially singing with Ricky. May the entire family be surrounded by the Lords grace and mercy.
