CALVIN C BURGETT was born on February 22, 1925, in Muhlenberg, Kentucky to Ella McCoy, age 34, and Frank Burgett, age 39. He passed away on July 2, 2020 in Nashville, TN.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank Burgett and Ella D McCoy-Burgett, his first wife Catherine T Burgett, his second wife Sue Burgett, and his daughter Sherry Dianne Burgett-Southgate.
He is survived by his stepson Larry Lawhorn (Genevieve), his son in law Andy Wheat (Regina), grandchildren Cher Morris (Charles) , Crystal Wheat-Kilby (Michael) , Chuck Lawhorn (Angila) , Jonathon Lawhorn (Anne Marie), Andy Eddings (Holly), nephew Terry McCoy (Rhonda) and 11 great-grandchildren. Also his special nurses – Brittany Calderon and Mary Calderon.
He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1943 to 1946 and received an honorable discharge. He fought in Japan and Iwojima. He was a long time member of The Dudley Miller Memorial Bible Class at Inglewood Baptist Church for about 25 years. He worked for Metro Codes as an Electrical Inspector for 15 years and retired from there.
The family will receive visitors Thursday July 9, 2020 from 4pm to 8 pm and Friday July 10, 2020 from 10 am until the Celebration of Life Service at noon at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Services will be conducted by Ronnie Pugh. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Arrangements by Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, a Nashville landmark since 1785 "Where Nashville Comes to Remember"
