Calvin Bynum Duke's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Calvin Bynum Duke on June 15th, 2023, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Calvin was born on November 9th, 1938, in Woodbury, Tennessee to Calvin S. Duke and Willie Maye Bynum Duke. After Willie Maye passed away suddenly when he was only two years old, he was lovingly raised by Miss Edith H. Duke, his beloved mama. He was blessed with his son Kevin Leroy Duke in 1965, along with a big, beautiful family to love throughout the years. When he was not hard at work, Calvin often enjoyed spending time renovating his home and perfecting his living space. He had a heart of gold and an exemplary work ethic that was admired by those that knew him. He was a devoted fan to the Cincinnati Bengals, and an even bigger fan of Donald Trump! He was a proud Mason and was a member of the John B. Garrett Masonic Lodge in Nashville. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and his legacy will live on in those he leaves behind.
In addition to his parents Calvin and Willie Maye, Calvin is preceded in death by his grandson Kevin Leroy Duke, Jr., and adopted mama Edith H. Duke. He is survived by his son Kevin Leroy Duke, Sr. (Mary); sisters Judy D. Golden (Charlie) and Shirley (David) Cooper; brother James “Billy” Duke (Edna); granddaughter Mallaurie Gail Donahue (Logan); grandsons Ryan Crawford and Sean Cihlar; great-granddaughter Josie Faye Donahue; nephew Jimmy Duke (Clarissa); nieces Holli Talhouk and Jennifer Jernigan; his best friend of 50 years, Bobby Wright (Sylvia); and a host of extended family and dear friends.
The family cordially invites friends and relatives to gather for a time of visitation on Monday, June 19th, 2023, from four o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening, and on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, from ten o'clock in the morning until twelve o'clock in the afternoon, with a chapel funeral ceremony at twelve o'clock in the afternoon, and burial to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
Arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
