Ms. Candee Leeann McGrady's Obituary
Candee Leeann McGrady, age 44 of Hendersonville, passed away on October 27, 2015. Candee was born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 2, 1971 to James and Eleanor McGrady. Candee was a great mother, a loving grandmother, and a blessing to her family.
Candee was a free-spirited and lighthearted person. She wasn’t shy about speaking her mind, however. The family agrees that a person always knew where they stood in Candee’s eyes. She was a thoughtful person, though, and held her family and friends close to her heart. She was a fan of rock-n-roll and R&B music, particularly The Rolling Stones. In fact, she and her daughter, Shelby, just saw the legendary band perform this past summer.
Candee was a graduate of Maplewood High School and a member of the 11th Street Church of Christ. She was also a cancer survivor, surprising even the doctors when her illness just disappeared. Her family credits the power of prayer for her recovery.
For 23 years, Candee was a caregiver at group homes for the mentally challenged. She loved her job and it showed. She was always able to bring clients out of a bad mood and give them something to smile about. It’s a trait she was known for. She was also known for her amazing Tater Tot Casserole, a recipe that she passed down to her daughter.
In addition to her parents, Candee was preceded in death by her sister, Tammy Darlene Teanney.
Candee is survived by her loving fiancé, Ronnie Adams; children, Shelby (Jose) Bond, Kyle (Kaymon) Crumpler, and Corey (Sadie) Bruce; grandchildren, Wyatt Bond, Nikolai Grenados, and Gabriel Grenados; brother, Robert (Katherine) Meadows; niece Corynne Meadows; and honorary sister, Cathey Young. Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends also survive.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10:00am from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Garden of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
